NAKHON RATCHASIMA - Mu Tu the Shih Tzu has returned home after going missing for three weeks.

Siri Sirwongworawat, a staff member of Inventive, an advertising agency and shop in this northeastern province, found the dog waiting in front of the shop on Tuesday morning.

Pun Nilnowarat, the shop owner, said the six-year-old pet, a "mascot for the shop", looked healthy. His theory is that someone took the dog, and cared for it - but then felt guilty and decided to return the dog to its owner.

Mu Tu was put in the spotlight of popular social media after his owner erected a large banner in downtown Nakhon Ratchasima appealing for the return of his pet after the dog disappeared three months ago.

Mu Tu's image earned up to 20,000 baht a month from clients who sought placement on the banner to promote their products, but Mr Pun used it primarily in the search for his pet.

Mr Pun said last Saturday that he decided to put up the banner because the dog's mate, Kheng, had just delivered five puppies and he didn't want them to grow up without their father.
