The voice of Bongkot Charoentham, also known as Fymme, may sound familiar to those who watch Thai TV series. Having performed a string of OSTs and songs for TV commercials, the lady behind the beautiful voice debuted on stage in the first season of The Voice Thailand and made it to the semi-final. Now famous for recent releases "Yak Hai Ter Dai Yin Hua Jai" (Want You to Hear My Heart) of Yes’sir Days and "Katunhun" (All of a Sudden) featuring Suparuj Techatanon and Lowfat from Project Love Pill 2 by Fongbeer (facebook.com/projectlovepill), this 28-year-old singer has recently signed to We Records, under the iconic imprint GMMGrammy.

WHEN DID YOU DISCOVER YOUR SINGING TALENT?

In my high school years. When my teacher learned I could sing, I was invited to join the Thai ensemble at school. I love performing. Aside from being my favourite activity, I always sing. It makes me happy. I love listening to music. Music is an essential part of my life.

HOW DID YOU GET YOUR START IN THE INDUSTRY?

The Voice was my official start. I had performed behind the scenes for a number of TV series soundtracks before. But the show was where I really got to be on stage and sing to the public. I'm currently working at an advertising agency, but singing has always been my biggest dream. Basically, I'm a big fan of The Voice US. I just want to give myself a try before getting too old. Luckily, I made it to the semi-finals and got a lot of support from the audience which has been an important drive for me. I gained a lot of experience from the show.

HOW DID YOU END UP SINGING FOR TV OSTs?

When I was in CU Band, the auditions were announced so my friends and I gave it a try. The first track that I sang was for the TV series Nang Barb (Sinner) about seven years ago.

WHAT WAS YOUR BEST MOMENT WITH CU BAND?

The first concert that debuted new members of the band at Chulalongkorn Stadium. It was my first big-stage gig. I got to dress up. It was a full production. I remember being very excited. I've learned a lot of techniques from the senior members of the band since.

HOW IS FORMAL TRAINING ESSENTIAL FOR A VOCALIST?

I wasn't formally trained until I joined The Voice. Professional training is quite important because the instructor helps you push the limits and improve your singing technique, as well as develops your voice and prepares for performance in the correct way. It's like having a personal trainer at a gym.

WHAT MAKES A GOOD SINGER?

To me, a good singer is a good narrator. There are so many people with a great voice, but it's more important to be able to convey the feelings and emotions of songs to really get listeners into the music.

YOUR THOUGHTS ON FAME?

I don't really think about it. I just want to do my best. I've been asked how I measure success. To me, having my own single and being known as Fymme who sings it means I'm already blessed.
