It's now official. Joko Widodo has been declared the winner of Indonesia's presidential election. The court challenge by rival Prabowo Subianto is not expected to succeed since there seems to be little evidence of significant voting irregularities.

Joko Widodo has won the Indonesian presidential election but it is not quite official yet. The local media says the final tally was 53 percent to 47 percent for his rival Prabowo Subianto, but the Election Commission has not yet officially confirmed this.
Final results showed that Widodo won 70,997,859 votes, or 53.15 percent of the nearly 133 million valid ballots cast, while Subianto won 62,576,444 votes, or 46.85 percent.
Voter turnout topped 70 percent.
CNN reports that Mr Prabowo's court challenge is likely to fail and it should only take two more weeks for the Constitution Court to make a final ruling. Meanwhile, his allies are reportedly deserting him, believing he has little chance of succeeding.
Indonesia tonight is reported to be calm and the day has seen none of the violence orginally feared.

The General Elections Commission's (KPU) official announcement of the election winner has been put back to 8pm, four hours later than originally scheduled.
16:15 Just before the Indonesian presidential election results were to be announced, Prabowo Subianto has taken his party out of the election process, claiming widespread election fraud. He was widely expected to lose the poll to rival Joko Widodo.
He had earlier asked the election commission to postpone announcing the poll results, pending an investigation into voting fraud claims and he said when that didn't happen, he would withdraw his party from the election and take the case to court. Like his opponent, he has told his supporters to refrain from violence.
Under Indonesian law, Mr Prabowo has three days to take his challenge to the Consitutional Court which could take up to a month to consider it.

Morning story
Indonesian poll: Winner to be declared at 4pm
Tension is high in Indonesia as presidential election results are scheduled to be announced by the General Elections Commission (KPU) at 4pm this afternoon local time (Same as Thai time).
It is a two-man race between Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and General Prabowo Subianto. Voting took place on July 9 and more 130 million people cast their ballots.
Most unofficial polling organisations give Jokowi a comfortable lead at about 53%, but General Prabowo and his allies are claiming there has been significant fraud, a claim denied by the KPU. It is not clear what, if any action, they will take if Jokowi is declared the winner this afternoon.
To avoid the possibility of violence, Jokowi has asked his supporters to stay home and refrain from celebrating.
Many Prabowo supporters, however, have threatened to rally outside the KPU. The Jakarta Post reports that more than 3,000 police will guard the commission headquarters and 32,000 police and military forces are on standby.
I'll have the full story after the results are announced.
