'Bua Loi' sparks brawl at Carabao concert again
Young concert-goers in Uttaradit have made a mockery out of the Carabao guitarist's claim that there would no longer be any more brawls sparked by their controversial song "Bua Loi".
The band was playing at the Phraya Pichai and Red Cross fair in Muang district in Uttaradit on Sunday night, but minutes after they launched into "Bua Loi", a brawl began near the stage.
Seeing the fight right in front of their eyes, Carabao abruptly ended the music and band leader Yuenyong Opakul, better known as Aed Carabao, told them to leave.
"[The concert is] over. Go home now," he said.
Here is a performance of "Bua Loi" where there was no brawl. Can anyone explain why the song often does generate one?
"Bua Loi" is one of Carabao's most popular songs, a hard-driving rock number that gets the audience dancing wildly. But on several occasions when they have played it live it has resulted in brawls breaking out among young fans.
Knowing that fighting was a likely consequence of the song, Carabao normally put the number on last during their show.
The latest brawl in Uttaradit was posted on a Facebook account and it was widely shared, drawing many comments.
"Those guys should be boxers," one commentator said.
"They should be banned from all concerts," another wrote.
In 2015, guitarist Preecha Chanaphai posted on his Facebook account, @lekcarabaosolo, that there would be no more brawls after "Bua Loi".
Many people had the wrong perception about the song because of the influence of the social media and hearsay that a Carabao concert always involved a brawl after "Bua Loi".
"There are no more brawls as many people would have you believe," he wrote on the topic of "Don't blame Bua Loi" on his account at the time.
Aed Carabao once said he was trying to figure out why the song motivated youngsters in his concert to brawl.
